Day by day
A launch with a very loud lobby
AION arrived with the sort of opening-week energy that makes every MMO player briefly believe sleep is a design flaw. The global launch helped turn Monday, October 5 into the month’s biggest day, with 105K viewers in AION’s best combined hour on Twitch. It finished at #11 among games, piling up 6.2 million hours watched from 39 streamers.
The month’s largest single stream belonged to zackrawrr, whose beta-day blend of AION, big news and alleged drama pulled 41K viewers. That was the opening bell. Then the game’s drop chase and progression treadmill did the sensible MMO thing, they kept finding new reasons to stay online.
The grind had two main characters
stylishnoob4 made AION a long-running Japanese-language campaign, leading the month in watch time after 232 hours live. Maintenance waits, faction life and the stubborn march toward becoming somebody important gave the streams a serial quality. AION did not merely visit the channel, it moved in and started reorganizing the furniture.
Across the other flank, shroud spent 206 hours chasing loot, levels, crafting materials and the next useful drop. The commitment was not subtle: 85% of his streaming time went into AION. Between those two engines, the game found a rhythm that was less launch-week tourism and more, well, permanent residence.
Transfers, maintenance, and more reasons to log in
The mid-month maintenance brought server transfers, exactly the kind of practical MMO event that somehow becomes appointment viewing. Stylishnoob4’s wait-for-maintenance stream landed among the month’s biggest, and the later transfer opening gave the calendar another jolt. The game was clearly still rearranging its population while its biggest channels were busy rearranging their sleep schedules.
Late October added fresh-content chatter and another round of drops, enough to keep the regulars farming rather than filing polite farewell letters. The broad split between Japanese and English audiences made AION feel unusually international for a game still figuring out its new global pecking order.

Loot Goblin Bulletin
- stylishnoob4 accidentally typed something embarrassing in chat, then realized the mic and camera setup had spared him from a full public disaster.
- A Steam achievement spoiled stylishnoob4’s progress at the halfway point. The game, apparently, could not wait one stream to blab.
- shroud figured roughly 150 hours was persuasive evidence that AION’s formula works, even while lobbying for changes. That is MMO criticism at its purest: furious, invested, still online.
- Shroud spent about 10 minutes repeatedly trying to summon Rojo for a reaction. The loot grind briefly became a one-man customer-service queue.
- PirateSoftware signed off early to update infrastructure, claimed the title of Zultra Lord, then headed out to raid the Ferrets. A perfectly normal ending to a perfectly normal MMO stream.
Next month: can the wings hold?
October proved AION had more than a launch spike. It had routines, rivalries, maintenance vigils and enough loot optimism to power a small city. The question now is whether fresh content can keep those marathon channels in the air after the novelty wears off.
If the drops keep dropping and the big grinders keep treating bedtime as optional side content, AION has a sturdy runway. If not, at least the maintenance waiting rooms have already produced a very committed audience.
